How to Earn Money with Work From Home Jobs
Do you want to earn hundreds of dollars a week from work from home jobs? Want the freedom to work from anywhere while helping others to succeed?
If these sound interesting to you, let us give you some tips to make money using WordPress.
These are just some of the perks of becoming a WordPress Service Provider (WSP). And no, you don’t need to be a developer to be successful in this business, says Spencer Forman, an entrepreneur who has taught over 19,000 people to make money providing WordPress services.
In fact, all you really need are decent computer skills and a passion for helping business owners tackle real-world problems with their website content. WordPress is the software used by more than one-third of all website owners on the Internet.
Many Small-Time to Big-Time Businesses Use WordPress as a Software for Their Website
From small businesses all the way to Fortune 100 corporations, millions of websites are built on WordPress. These website owners need regular help with the following WordPress services and many more:
- Content editing, creation, and management
- E-commerce shop management
- Membership and community management
- Email marketing
- Landing and sales page creation
Because WordPress is easy enough for anyone to use and has so many powerful capabilities, there is an ever-increasing demand for independent WordPress Service providers. This has created work-at-home jobs that offer great opportunities for moms who want to work online jobs part-time, millennials who are just out of college, and anyone who wants to bring in real money while working from any location they dang-well choose.
Meet Spencer, WordPress Service Provider
Spencer Forman shares what it takes to become a WordPress Service Provider, as well as his tips and advice for making work from home jobs work for you.
“I’ve been an entrepreneur my entire life, creating businesses that provide pain point solutions.
One of my main focuses since 2006 has been helping business owners develop WordPress solutions.
Almost all business owners struggle with the mechanics of how to move their traditional businesses online, as well as how to operate them efficiently once they’ve made the migration.
I realized early on that WordPress was creating an entirely new ecosystem of opportunities for people to perform the services required by these business owners.
What I soon discovered is that great WordPress Service Providers are hard to find. When a business owner does find one, they are often buried with clients and have a waiting list for business owners who need work on their website content.
My entrepreneurial instinct saw this as a pain point that I could solve for the business community.
For over 10 years, I’ve developed and tested a program that teaches regular folks to make money from home by providing WordPress services to businesses. Teaching people to succeed by helping other businesses is something I really enjoy doing.
I decided in 2013 that my life’s business purpose was to teach people how to make money online, taking charge of their financial future by providing WordPress Services.”
Do You Need Coding Skills to be a WordPress Service Provider?
“The short answer: NO!
In fact, none of the great students I’ve trained had coding skills, because they aren’t selling programming.
Instead, they are simply performing the tasks a business owner would normally do for themselves, when using WordPress. In simplest terms, they are providing the business owner more TIME to do other things and allowing them to improve their work-life balance!
Because a WordPress Service Provider can become very proficient with specific tasks, and charge only for the time completing the same, their services offer a unique value proposition to businesses. There is no need to hire expensive full-time employees with all the overhead and politics involved with the same.
But an inexperienced person does need to have certain personal characteristics to set themselves up for success as a great WordPress Service Provider.”
What Characteristics and Skills Are You Referring To?
“WSPs are more involved in the granular details of running the business, whereas developers are typically more involved in constructing the mechanics of a website solution.
To be a great WSP, you need real-world skills. If you go through traditional developer courses or online tutors, you’ll learn a lot of programming and coding skills. For most people wanting to earn money from anywhere, those have no practical application.
For example, most businesses using WordPress are selling their products or services to ordinary consumers.
A WSP has the natural ability to understand these customers, how they think, and the vocabulary to use for maximum effectiveness. These people skills come easily to most people who desire to work remotely from anywhere, because they are consumers themselves!
You do need to have decent computer skills, however. Since all the work you perform as a WordPress Service Provider is done in a virtual environment, you must know how to communicate effectively and efficiently through technology and feel comfortable using those tools.
What Are the Benefits of Doing Work from Home Jobs?
“There are so many for these remote jobs!
My favorite benefit is the freedom a WordPress Service business affords. You have the freedom to choose where you work, when you work, and with whom you work.
Think about the power of being in control of these three factors in your professional life! The impact is tremendous and liberating.
My second favorite benefit is the income potential, which can be higher than the average salary you get from working in offices. Business owners value the service you provide and are willing to pay you handsomely for the results you can help them achieve.
The third benefit is that WordPress Services are always in demand. Millions of businesses currently use WordPress, and that number is increasing daily. This creates an abundance of opportunity for everyone.”
You Mentioned Income Potential. What’s the Going Rate for Legitimate WordPress Services?
“We teach people to start small and simple, by performing tasks they can complete in under an hour and earn at least $100.00. By doing just three of those types of services on a weekend, one can make $300 on a weekend with just a few hours of work.
I teach my students that they should set a goal of making up to six new relationships per week, with a couple of those converting into paid clients who post job listings online.
By providing valuable one-time services to these folks, most WordPress Service providers usually find that they very quickly build a book of business, with previous clients asking for recurring services to be performed.
Within a few months, it is quite possible for WSP’s to create enough recurring income to satisfy their income goals, without interfering with their family or personal obligations at home.”
What Tools Do WordPress Service Providers Use?
“This is the best part!
Since WordPress is open-source software, or software that is free to distribute and modify, most, if not all, of what you need to succeed is free or has little cost.
Thus, once you’ve started using WordPress, you can discover different niche features that appeal to your own hobbies, interest, or experience and become proficient with the same. These then become the services that you focus upon offering for other business owners.
With WordPress, you will not have to invest in any expensive equipment, hardware, uniforms, or marketing materials. Just a computer and a high-speed Internet connection are enough to get started today.”
Say, I Wanted to Start a WordPress Service Business as Part of Work from Home Jobs. What Are My Costs?
“About the cost of a cup of coffee… five bucks a month.
You can start your WordPress Service Provider business for under $5.00/mo, assuming you have a decent computer and can access an Internet connection.
The biggest part of the investment, both start-up and ongoing, is in yourself: learning! It’s in developing your own skills and becoming a real craftsman at the art of providing WordPress services.
As your business grows, you’ll want to reinvest in your own learning by acquiring new WordPress Service skills that you can add to your offerings.
My most successful students have always been those who are curious and continually spend the time to improve their skills through additional training.”
How Can I Get Started Right Now, Today, with My Work from Home Jobs?
“The process is super-simple and begins with the idea that you need to have your own WordPress site to both practice your skills and use as a professional online presence for your business.
Even if you’re at home with your kids, you can look and act professionally when you have a WordPress website!”
1. Choose Your Domain Name
Your Domain Name connects your business to the rest of the world, both on your website and via email.
Since you are going to be marketing yourself as a personal service provider, the best domain would be a variation of your real name. For example, my personal services website is at SpencerForman.com
If your name is not available, you can try adding your middle name or a variation on the full name, such as FirstMiddleLast.com
If you prefer to have a company name, try to choose a domain name that meets three criteria:
- Easy to say – For example, the word “GUR-TAH” is spelled G-O-E-T-H-E and always confusing.
- Easy to spell – Avoid words that many people spell wrong, such as “Access.”
- Easy to remember – Choose words that paint a nice visual image such as “Expert” or “Professional.”
It is best that you use a short domain so people don’t have to type as much every time.
On a piece of paper, write out a list of names you’d like to check for availability when you invest in WordPress hosting from Bluehost.
In the next step, you can get your domain directly through Bluehost and make the whole process very easy. If you do this, you can get a FREE domain for the first year as long as you buy 12 months worth of Bluehost web hosting.
2. Invest in WordPress Hosting
After personally testing all the available hosting providers, we recommend Bluehost for anyone looking to start a WordPress Service Provider business. They provide the easiest setup and management dashboard, speed, and outstanding customer service and customer support.
Most importantly, when you purchase 12 months of hosting, you get a significantly lower price as well as your FREE domain. Total cost will be less than five dollars per month, equal to just around $59 for the whole year.
This is a very small investment in yourself, considering that your WordPress Service Provider business should allow you to pay for the entire year of your website hosting with just one simple client job.
Simple Steps To Investing in WordPress Hosting:
- Go to Bluehost and click the “Get Started Now” button.
- Choose the Basic Package (on the left side).
- Enter your domain name preferences into the New Domain box (on the left side).
- Enter your personal and payment information.
- If you choose 12 months, your price will be $4.95/mo. If you choose 36 months, it will be $2.75/mo.
- You don’t need backup or sitelock security at this time, so uncheck those boxes.
- Next, you will be asked to enter a password. Choose something secure that you can also remember.
Once you have completed your transaction, you will receive an email confirmation from Bluehost requesting that you verify your domain information.
Now you are ready to install WordPress, do the following steps:
- In your Bluehost Dashboard, start in the Hosting/Home tab.
- Scroll down and click on the image that says “WordPress Install.”
- Click “Continue Installation” to being the WordPress installation.
- Choose your domain name from the dropdown menu for where to install WordPress.
- Under “Advanced Options”, create a username and password that are secure. Never use “admin” as your username as this makes it easy to guess. Your name with some numbers would be a good option (spence99, for example). Write them down now just to be sure you remember.
- Look for an email containing the URL of your new site as well as your username and password.
- Go to your WordPress site by clicking the URL link or typing the domain name into your web browser.
3. Set Up Your Free Homepage
At this point, you will want to create your business home page, so you can start using it when contacting prospective clients who post job openings online.
Although you can use any theme or page builder you wish on WordPress, we’ve found it faster for new students to use the exact setup we are showing you here in our training video. To make this incredibly easy for you, we’ve created a free homepage design you can download after you provide the domain where your new Bluehost site is located.
Once you have your download, log into your WordPress dashboard with the URL sent to you by email from Bluehost. It looks like: Yourdomain.com/wp-login.php
Step 1: Add Page Builder Plugin
After you log in, the first step is to install a free page builder plugin called “Elementor”.
Click on the left side of your dashboard for the tab labeled “Plugins” then click the button on the top “Add New”.
Type the word “Elementor” into the Search Plugins box on the top right side of the page.
You will see a plugin called “Elementor Page Builder”. Click the button to “Install Now” and again to “Activate”.
Step 2: Add Your Free Homepage Design
Click on the left side of your dashboard again for the tab labeled “Elementor” then choose the sub-tab labeled “My Library”.
At the top of the Elementor library page, click the “Import Template” button at the top.
Next, select the homepage design file you previously downloaded for free, then click “Import Now”. This file will end with “.json”.
Step 3: Create Your Home Page
Click on the left side of your dashboard again for the tab labeled “Pages” then click the button on the top “Add New”.
Enter a title for the page that you will remember, such as “Home Page”. Then, on the right side, scroll down to the “Page Attributes” meta box where you can change the template from “Default Template” to “Elementor Canvas.”
Next, click the blue “Publish” button to save your page.
Now that you have a full-width page that is ready for content, click the larger blue button labeled “Edit With Elementor”. This will open up the Elementor Page Builder so you can use the homepage design you just uploaded.
Scroll to the lower left side where you will see a grey bar with an icon of a template folder (just to the left of the Save Button).
Click on this icon and choose “Templates Library”, which will open a modal window. Then, choose “My Templates” from the top of that window where you will see the homepage design in the list below.
Roll your mouse over that design on the list, then click the green button to “Insert” the design to your page.
Click the green “Save” button on the lower left side of the screen. Next, click the small “x” and choose “View Page” to see your new homepage design!
Step 4: Set Your Homepage Permalink
Click on the left side of your dashboard again for the tab labeled “Settings,” then choose the sub-tab labeled “Permalinks”.
Choose the radio button for “Post Name” and then click the blue button “Save Changes”.
Next, click the “Settings” tab again and the sub-tab labeled “Reading”.
At the top option for “Front Page Displays,” select the radio button for “A Static Page,” then choose your new home page as the choice for the “Front Page:”. Be sure to scroll down and click the blue “Save Changes” button.
4. Personalize Your Site Like Your Social Media Accounts
Now, you are going to use the visual controls of the page builder to edit the following on your new homepage:
- Change the image to your own – You’ll need a .jpg or .png file roughly square in shape and approximately 600 x 600px.
- Change the personal contact details to your own – You should definitely have an email and preferably a phone but do not need to provide a physical address.
- Change the copy of the page to your own message – Change this to reflect the nature of your domain name, personality, and the starting point of your business. Say very little today, other than you are a WordPress Services Provider and are available to help anyone who owns a WordPress site.
All of the controls for personalizing your homepage content are available when you click the “Edit With Elementor” tab at the top of your homepage, while you are logged into your site.
